Scott Hohman
Designer
Q: Tell us what it is you really do here.
A: I would say I design and develop high-end, on-strategy concepts and layouts. However, give me a few more months here and hopefully my co-workers will be able to comment on my contributions to the work environment, professionally and socially.
Q: What made you want to be a Graphic Designer?
A: I was the little kid who would not let guests leave without first drawing them a picture. Art has always been a huge part of my life and when it came to choosing a career, graphic design seemed like the most logical and exciting choice.
Q: What things have you done in the past that prepared you for this job?
A: I’ve been involved in design and art direction for the past 4-5 years. Before I came to Pratt I was an assistant art director for an ad agency that specialized in healthcare marketing. To me, the interesting thing about our industry is that good advertising is good advertising, regardless of what you’re marketing.
Q: We hear you're from a smallish town in Ohio. What made you want to move to the big city? Anything you miss about small town life?
A: Do you consider 27 graduates from a public high school class small? Then yep, I’m from a smallish town in Northwest Ohio!
I made the move here when I decided the “big city” wasn’t as bad as I was told after living in London for a short time while working on an advertising project with PepsiCo International.
There are many things I miss about rural America, actually. I never lived “in town” – I grew up in the country. So stars, trees and my family farm are at the top of the list.
Q: Do you like to travel? What's your favorite place you've visited?
A: Does anyone not like to travel? I can’t think of a better way to acquire culture and an appreciation of that culture than to explore different parts of the world.
While I haven’t gotten the opportunity to travel much, I would say the most interesting place I have been is Spain. The culture and the people found there on the Mediterranean coast are amazing.

Scott's a creative shaman. He comes in focused, asks questions, clarifies direction, then throws on his head phones and does his thing... then suddenly, POOF – out comes something totally brilliant and spot-on. It's magical, really.”
