Michael McGuire
Senior Strategist
Q: Tell us what it is you really do here.
A: In a nutshell, I lead the strategic and interactive efforts for PMG. I work with both current and prospective clients to develop research and branding strategies, web sites, on-line advertising and other on-line communications tools that support their overall marketing objectives. The online world can be especially scary for some, but it’s my job to break things down, speak in plain English and make people comfortable with technology.
Q: How did you decide on a career in the interactive field?
A: Actually I started my career on the traditional side of advertising working in Business Development. But it wasn't long before I realized that on-line communications were growing increasingly more important, so I looked for opportunities to leverage my experience while learning the interactive side of the business.
Q: What things have you done in the past that prepared you for this job?
A: Well, besides my professional experience in marketing over the past ten years, I have to thank my parents for this career path. I got my first Apple IIE when I was a kid, and then the Internet not long thereafter. It was with this machine, and others since, that I developed a passion for technology.
Q: Our sources tell us you once had a career on a cruise ship? What did you do?
A: The rumors are true. I was a cruise director on a ship for about a year after college. I spent a great amount of time with a microphone in my hand informing the passengers of the days events and entertaining them in the process. For those of you who know me, you will find that is not hard to believe!
Q: That leads us to this: we also hear you’re a singer! What are your favorite types of songs to sing?
A: I absolutely love vocal jazz. In fact, I am a member of an adult, vocal jazz group called "The Chicago Red Line". There is nothing better than working through a good arrangement and making music with friends.

Michael brings a great combination of energy and skill to his work. He can put even the most complicated ideas and technical jargon into plain English. It amazes me!”
