Matt Dudek
Copywriter
Q: Tell us what it is you really do here.
A: Technically, I write. But it's really much more than that. I think I have a knack for looking at things differently. I guess that's sort of what creatives do, look at the ordinary or mundane and come up with something completely unexpected—but at the same time functional. I'd have to say it's a pretty sweet gig. And lots of fun, too!
I also enjoy giving Mara a hard time on a daily basis (see Mara Orrico).
Q: How did you decide on copywriting for a career?
A: Actually, as a young boy I wanted to fly jets and serve my country during the Cold War… but down goes the Berlin Wall and the rest is history. Then for a little while I wanted to play in the NBA, but I can’t dunk—thus, copywriter!
Q: What did you do in the past that prepared you for this job?
A: Most importantly, I read lots of books. Not how-to guides so much, but fiction, non-fiction, biographies and lots of other stuff with words. With that, I tried to really focus on writing as a craft and how words can be orchestrated into a message or story.
I also hit the gym... you know, cardio, free weights and stuff.
Q: You used to dominate on the Rugby field. So you’re athletic and creative?
A: Yep, I played rugby in college… or should I say survived? For all the hard knocks and injuries, Rugby provided for some interesting times and some even more interesting acquaintances. Never could I imagine a better setting for creative inspiration than with the strange and bizarre characters you might meet on a rugby pitch.
Q: Be honest. What’s your favorite thing about being a copywriter?
A: Without a doubt, it’s the lack of math.

Matt is intentionally random. And whether you realize it or not, he sees all and knows all! Furthermore, he loves tacos. (He also likes to use the word ‘accommodate’ a lot).”
